Pay and titles in this week’s medical assistant postings.

These are the ten postings one Indeed search returned on Oct 7, 2026. They are a snapshot, not the whole market, and pay is shown exactly the way employers posted it.

Pay, as posted

$17 to $37.64 an hour on hourly postings; one at $37,000 to $47,000 a year.

9 of the 10 postings listed pay. Ranges are the lowest and highest figures we saw, not an average.

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • Medical Assistant Certified, Pediatrics

One line, rewritten

Same work. Said like it counts.

Most medical assistant resumes describe the job. Hiring managers look for the scale and the result. Here is the move, on one line.

Before

Assisted the doctor with patients and did paperwork.

After

Roomed 25–30 patients a day in a family practice, took vitals and drew labs, and charted every visit in eClinicalWorks.

Illustrative example. It shows the method; it is not a real person’s resume.

Use your own numbers. If you do not know a figure, leave it out. A guessed number can cost you the interview.

The first read

What recruiters scan for first.

A first pass on a resume is quick. These five things should be easy to find in that time, ideally in the top third of the page.

  1. Certification: CMA, RMA, MA-C, and the state if it matters.
  2. Clinical skills by name: vitals, injections, phlebotomy, EKG.
  3. The EHR you charted in.
  4. Specialty and patient volume.
  5. Front desk experience. One posting this week required it alongside clinical work.

Straight answers

Medical assistant resume questions.

Is MA certification required?

All three postings we read in full mentioned it, as either required or preferred. If you are certified, put it beside your name.

How do I list externship hours?

Treat the externship like a job: clinic, specialty, hours, and the clinical skills you performed there.

Should I include bilingual skills?

Yes, and name the language. One posting this week required English and Spanish.
